Building for the main school will commence week beginning 25 February 2019.
The initial work will be to remove the existing top soil and level the ground.
The sports facilities are expected to be available for students to use from July 2020 and the main school building will be completed in September 2020.
We are currently and will continue to use external offsite venues for netball, basketball and football. The school will provide transportation to the facilities as necessary. HRF takes place in the school grounds.
Our building contractors Wates are hugely experienced in working on building sites that are situated alongside existing school sites and all the necessary safety measures will be place. Our students’ safety is our priority and we will be working alongside the contractors to ensure that this is paramount at all times. Entrance to the school site is entirely separate from the build site entrance.
We will continue to update our website and social media with more detailed plans as and when we are able.
Whilst the build is taking place we are expanding the existing temporary accommodation to accommodate the new intake. There will be an additional floor added to the current accommodation consisting of six classrooms, toilets and administrative areas plus an additional hall at ground level.
The structural underpinning for the new classrooms will take place over the forthcoming Easter holidays to allow for the new structure to put in place over the 2019 summer holidays. This means that there will be minimal disruption to the students during term time. The new accommodation is built off site and will be transported in over the summer and will be ready for September 2019 for all students to use.
Classrooms in the temporary accommodation are located on the northern side of the site away from the main build which will minimise noise or distraction for the students.
We have and will continue to deliver a full KS3 curriculum in the temporary classrooms which are designed to accommodate a full range of subjects. Specialist facilities will become available in September 2020 as students begin their GCSE’s.
The current outdoor space is being re-modelled to allow for 360 students to use during breaks and as an outdoor classroom.
Sixth Form Plans
We have delayed the opening of the Sixth Form until September 2021. This will allow those students already in the school to familiarise themselves with the new building. Plans remain to deliver a highly academic Sixth Form offering a full range of A Levels and Level 3 Extended Diplomas.
