On 8th May, a group of Year 9 students with an interest in finance visited Bank of America. During the visit, they engaged in small-group discussions with employees, gaining insights into the banking industry, its importance, and the range of career paths it offers.
Students explored routes into the sector—including apprenticeships and university—and how subjects such as Maths, English, Business Studies, Economics, and ICT can support these careers.
The visit included an interactive activity focused on problem-solving, teamwork, and financial skills, as well as a tour of the workplace, including the trading floor.
Following the visit, students reported a greater awareness of opportunities in the finance sector and a clearer understanding of various roles and responsibilities. Many felt motivated to work harder at school, recognising the link between academic achievement and future career prospects. Over half noted this was their first visit to a workplace like this.
