UNIFORM
Coombe Wood School Uniform Statement
Coombe Wood School requires students to wear a school uniform. We believe that a school uniform provides a sense of belonging and identity whilst setting an appropriate tone for an educational setting.
Details of our school uniform requirements can be found below. As part of our CWS culture we allow students to wear HRF kit on the days they are participating in active subjects such as HRF or Dance. If these subjects are not on any particular day's timetable, the expectation is full academic uniform. This enables students to be dressed professionally and appropriately at all times to fully engage with the demands of their curriculum.
Parents/Carers - like you, we want Coombe Wood School students to be proud of their uniform and to look professional and smart at all times. However, detailed our school’s uniform policy is, there will always be shoes, clothes, jewellery or haircuts that ‘push the boundaries’ and fall into the grey area between acceptable and unacceptable. We want to be celebrating our students’ appearance, not disputing it with you. Please do not put us in the difficult situation of having to exercise our right to sanction an item of clothing or a haircut that falls in to this grey area. Please stick to the uniform expectations outlined above at all times.
If you are considering buying an item that may be ‘borderline’, please do contact us first to seek advice on whether we will accept it or not. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
Outlined below are the non-negotiable expectations and standards of the CWS uniform:
Please note: The tie you buy will relate to the House your child is in.

Cost Considerations and Uniform Supply
In developing our school uniform, we have carefully considered what is required practically for classroom lessons or for sport, safeguarding and health and safety considerations, and our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, and we have taken account of the wishes of parents and students.
We have also considered the cost implications for families and different groups of students and sought best value - we have minimised the number of branded items and avoided single-supplier contracts so that parents have a choice of where they can shop, and we will avoid frequent uniform changes so that clothes can be passed on. We also offer second-hand uniforms to ensure that families have low-cost options.
If you have any questions about our uniform, or are struggling through financial hardship, please contact us on enquiries@coombewoodschool.co.uk and we can support you.
Complaints about our school uniform should be dealt with under the schools complaints policy which can be found here (link)
For more expensive items like coats, bags, and trainers, we avoid overly specific requirements so that families can use what they already have.
Uniform vouchers are also available for students receiving PP funding. Please enquire at the front office for more information.
